TVS used to show this induction video to its new staff.

Welcome to TVS.

We'd like to tell you about who we are and what we do.

Firstly, TVS isn't just one location. We're actually quite a large independent station with a number of branch offices and facilities.

Our broadcast area spans the south and south east regions of England. That's a lot of territory to cover, but here at TVS we look upon it as a challenge.

Aside from broadcasting on ITV for our region, Television South also produces quite a large number of programmes which are shown by other stations on the ITV network, or Channel 4, or are sold on international markets.

All this work adds up to an enormous facility that spans four main sites.

Am I right in thinking that people with AS are likely to benefit from induction videos like this when starting a new job?

Those studios must have contained some really cool and interesting computer and video equipment. I wonder if TVS used Quantel Paintbox for their graphics and animation. It was released in 1981 shortly before TVS came on air. TVS was the producer of the cartoon Telebugs. There's loads of episodes over on YouTube so I'm pleased I'm not the one and only person who remembers it.

I used to watch Telebugs. It was on CITV back in the late 80s. There are times when I have wondered whether Telebugs was restricted to the TVS region rather than shown nationally because it is quite an unheard of cartoon. I live in what was the TVS region and CITV seemed to be standardised across Britain at the time, unless you happened to live in the TSW region but I don't think the differences there affected the timeslot given to Telebugs.

Somewhere I read that the ownership of the rights to many TVS programmes is unknown which is why they have never been released on DVD. CATS Eyes is one such example.

I'm interested in finding out more about Quantel Paintbox.
